I think I could write the same first paragraph again, funny ol’ weather… We did manage to cook up a lovely barbie for the parents to celebrate Dad’s birthday. They phoned from the next village over 10 minutes away to let us know of their imminent arrival. At that point it was black and raining hard. As they knocked on the door, the sun came out, I poured the water out of the barbecue and refilled it whilst it was still drizzling. Luckily the firelighters caught and the rain abated quite quickly. Got out a tarpaulin and we sat with dry bottoms on the wet grass in the glorious sunshine for the next three hours, so bizarre…

After our hot spell in May, it’s gone a bit topsy turvy, some BBQ weather and a lot of umbrella and waterproofs days. The good side of the inclemency is weekends spent doing up the kitchen, slowly slowly we’re getting there. Still might be the other side of Christmas before it’s finished. Just had the under-counter lighting put in and my latest cook’s toy a CD stereo that fits under the unit too, got to keep the chef getting with the rhythm whilst chopping and simmering. That and the open bottle of wine could spell disaster with my sharp knives but hey it will be fun!

As a blog newbie, never having even kept a paper diary, we are moving into unchartered waters. And of course, the novelty is not just my being a virginal blogger, this is a brand new website too so welcome to season online. Before we go any further, publisher Simon Tooth at BC Publications and I must say a huge thank you to our super web partners, those sassy and lovely folks at Allies Design.
